Adorable “Edwardian Era” domed devotional souvenir from Lourdes. Picturing the “Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes” in France. <\/p>\n

Handmade by nun artisans, most likely in the 1920s. A beautiful French pilgrimage souvenir made with the traditional encasing of dried flowers and religious imagery under glass domes (globes de curiosit\u00e9s<\/em>). This technique was particularly popular in France during the Victorian and Edwardian eras.<\/p>\n

Encasing local flora in glass peaked between 1890-1930. The nuns used local dried heather (calluna) which is specific to the surroundings of Lourdes and the Pyrenees region. This was used because the pilgrims sought for tangible handmade memories of the landscape where the apparitions occurred. The addition of glitter (not plastic) but mica and mica flakes which were used to create a shimmering and ethereal atmosphere in the religious scenes and was especially modern from 1900-1930.<\/p>\n

You feel the dedication and love someone put into making this little wonderful souvenir. It fits perfectly into a vintage collection, religious collection or on any wall that seeks something that is unique and soulful. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Da vi havde butikken lavede vi naturligvis vores egne sodavand, hvorfor skulle vi k\u00f8be det udefra?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Det er simpelthen s\u00e5 let at lave sirup, som jo er basen for enhver sodavand. Desv\u00e6rre er dem man kan k\u00f8be, for det meste fyldt med raffineret sukker, citronsyre, glukose, majssirup, aromaer og konserveret med diverse, som jeg ikke \u00f8nsker skal indenbords.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ergo, vi laver det selv! Den f\u00f8rste gang vi lavede sodavand selv, var da vi flyttede til Frankrig f\u00f8rste gang i 2011. Jeg havde en stor bageblog dengang og jeg solgte mine kager til en lokal Te Salon, i den Sydfranske by B\u00e9ziers. Det var en sjov tid og vi havde hverken b\u00f8rn, ejendomme, bil eller noget, s\u00e5 vi tog bussen sm\u00e5 40 km hver vej med kage leveringer fra den lille landsby hvor vi boede. Det fik da folk til at glo... Hahaha!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

N\u00e5 men det var ogs\u00e5 her i den lille landsby Quarante hvor vi havde lejet et hus, at min mand begyndte at k\u00f8be dyre artisan sodavand henne hos slagteren. Det var virkeligt nogle smukke flasker sodavand og jeg gemte dem altid. En dag da vi havde akkumuleret 6 flasker, t\u00e6nkte jeg \"m\u00e5ske vi bare skulle lave noget sodavand selv istedet for at betale 5 euro for de fine flasker med sukkervand\" og det gjorde vi s\u00e5. Sidenhen har jeg lavet diverse forskellige slags, hver Jul laver jeg en Julesodavand. I butikken havde vi Hindb\u00e6r Vanilje Brus, Orange, Citron, Jordb\u00e6r og kombinationer af disse, meget traditionelt uden raffineret sukker og helt fri for tils\u00e6tningsstoffer og det bedste var, at folk kunne lide det!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Det tager meget kort tid at koge en sirup og derfor er det jo perfekt, hvis man netop har lavet denne opskrift \"aktiv enzym reng\u00f8ring med citron\"<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, hvor man st\u00e5r tilbage med citronsaften fra en del citroner. Man kunne let lave denne opskrift p\u00e5 \"Honning Limonade\"<\/strong><\/a>, men hvis man har brugt 10 citroner og v\u00e6lger at gemme 3 citronskr\u00e6ller til denne opskrift istedet, s\u00e5 f\u00e5r man alts\u00e5 ogs\u00e5 noget ud af de skr\u00e6ller. S\u00e5 derfor deler jeg lige denne virkeligt lette klassiske franske citron sirup med vanilje, som netop giver de der kandiserede citronskaller, som kan bruges til et aromatisk citronsukker. Et citronsukker, som kan bruges til alt muligt eller gives bort som gave i et fint glas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

S\u00e5 for mig er det her helt naturligt, at lave efter jeg har sat mine fermenterede citronskaller over. Og her f\u00e5r vi to produkter en sirup og nogle kandiserede skaller, som vi kan bruge til Citron sukker om nogle uger. Det g\u00f8r man ikke hvis man laver Honning Limonaden<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Sirop de Citron Maison \"Fransk Citron Sirup\"<\/h2>\n\t\t

En virkeligt sk\u00f8n klassisk sirup\/saft, som man kan lave en vidunderlig sodavand med eller bruge til diverse i det s\u00f8de k\u00f8kken. Det er ogs\u00e5 en fin gave hvis man har en mini patentflaske som man lige har lyst til at give v\u00e6k!<\/p>\t<\/p>\n\t

  • 360 g Friskpresset Citron ((Jeg brugte 10 citroner til at f\u00e5 denne m\u00e6ngde))<\/li>
  • 180 g Demerara Sukker ((eller en anden uraffineret r\u00f8rsukker))<\/li>
  • 1 stang Vanilje ((Jeg bruger blot 4 kvarte t\u00f8mte st\u00e6nger fra min sukkerkrukke))<\/li>
  • 3 hele Citronskaller ((jeg bruger de resterende 3 skr\u00e6ller fra min Enzym Reng\u00f8rings opskrift) Se bloggen.)<\/li><\/ul>\t<\/div>\n\t
    \n\t\t

    1. Skr\u00e6l 3 citroner<\/p>

      <\/li>

    2. Riv eller sk\u00e6r skallerne i ca. 3 cm ned i gryden.<\/p>

      <\/li>

    3. H\u00e6ld citronsaft, citronskaller, sukker og vanilje i en gryde uden at r\u00f8re.<\/p>

      <\/li>

    4. S\u00e6t det over medium varme med l\u00e5g.<\/p><\/li>

    5. N\u00e5r det koger s\u00e6nkes varmen til lav. Lad det simre i ca. 30 minutter under l\u00e5g, se til det ofte s\u00e5 det ikke koger over. <\/p><\/li>

    6. N\u00e5r siruppen har simret i 30 minutter, fiskes citronskallerne op. l\u00e6g dem p\u00e5 en bageplade p\u00e5 et stykke bagepapir og lad dem t\u00f8rre i nogle dage et t\u00f8rt sted. (brug skallerne til min opskrift p\u00e5 citronsukker, se linket nedenfor)<\/p>

    7. S\u00f8rg for du har en steril flaske klar og h\u00e6ld nu den kogende sirup igennem en tragt sammen med vaniljest\u00e6ngerne. Lad den k\u00f8le af og stil p\u00e5 k\u00f8l. brug den som en hjemmelavet sodavand, eller p\u00e5 kager og i is. Selvom uraffineret sukker altid giver en m\u00f8rkere sirup betyder det ikke at din sodavand bliver brun, som du kan se her er den smuk gylden, som en citronsodavand skal v\u00e6re :-)<\/p>

      Det er en meget koncentreret sirup, s\u00e5 den er dr\u00f8j. Vi bruger 1 del sirup til 8-10 dele danskvand ;-)<\/p>\n

      Det er som sagt en super fin gave at give v\u00e6k, s\u00e5 hvorfor ikke pr\u00f8ve at lave nogle mini flasker med s\u00e5dan en fin sirup, det g\u00f8r jeg nok til Jul.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n\t

      De kandiserede skaller lader jeg gerne ligge i en uge eller mere p\u00e5 bagepladen et t\u00f8rt sted (typisk inde i min dehydrator), hvis de begynder at svede, drysser jeg dem med lidt ekstra sukker. Det kan tage en del tid at t\u00f8rre dem, s\u00e5 sukkeret kan f\u00f8rst laves n\u00e5r de er klar, s\u00e5 hav t\u00e5lmodighed. Indl\u00e6gget med citron sukkeret kommer n\u00e5r mine citronskaller er t\u00f8rre nok, s\u00e5 t\u00e6nker det passer med du er klar der ogs\u00e5. Hav en velsignet dag!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
